Greetings!!
I started the Mr. P's Panther Bookshelf blog for two reasons. First, I wanted to give Smiths Station High School students a platform for posting insights and reviews on books they had read from the Panther Media Center and had wanted to share their insights and critiques with other SSHS students. Second, as a media specialist, I am always interested in how students feel about the Panther Media Center and its services as well as what makes them "tick" as a reader and their insight on their own reading process. Due to tight schedules {theirs and mine}, I rarely get to interact with students on these topics. I am hopeful that future topics on this blog will allow me such interaction with the students that I can gain insight to what students value in media center services and the high school reading process.
To accomplish this blog's purposes, posting book reviews and commenting on future blog topics will be limited to Smiths Station High School students. If you are a SSHS student and wish to contribute book reviews and comment on future blog topics, you must complete the following steps:
(1) Create a G-Mail account at http://www.google.com/. If you already have a G-Mail account for Mrs. Mullinax's, Mr. Brooks's, or Mrs. Holmes-Fowler's class, you do not have to create a new email address for this blog. Simply email me at the email address in Step 3.
(2) Your G-Mail address must be created using the following order: last name, first initial, middle initial. Ex. - doejh. You will create this username in the Desired Login Name box. This would make your G-Mail address doejh@gmail.com. If your username {last name, first initial, middle initial} is unavailable, simply ad the DAY of your birthdate to the end of your username and re-submit. ONLY G-MAIL ACCOUNTS CREATED IN THIS MANNER WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR USE WITH THIS BLOG!!
(3) Once you have successfully created your G-Mail account, please email me at rdp.bookmagi@gmail.com. In your email, please send your first name, middle initial, and last name as well as your grade. This information will be used to verify your enrollment at Smiths Station High School. If I can not verify that you are a student at SSHS, you will NOT be granted posting/commenting privileges. Once your enrollment at SSHS is verified, you will be sent a brief email confirmation of your posting/commenting privileges. If your enrollment can not be verified, you will NOT recieve a confirmation email. All email confirmations will be sent within 48 hours of recieving your email.
All posts and comments will be moderated before they are published to the blog. They will be held to content standards {No personal attacks, No crude/offensive language/ideas} as well as grammar, punctuation, and spelling standards. Any posts or comments that do not meet these criteria will NOT be published. Also, any posts or comments that do not stay on a blog topic or do not follow a topic's guidelines will NOT be published either.
If you have any questions about this blog and its topics, please feel free to email me at rdp.bookmagi@gmail.com. {Please allow 48 hours for a response...I do have a life!!}
I am looking forward to student authored book reviews and student insights on "all things panther media center.
